Some friend has called my attention to a

leading article published in your newspaper, under

the date of August 18.

As the following paragraph :

"The proprietor of the 'Perla del Oriente' brand of cigars is C. Ingenohl. He lives in An and is a naturalised Belgian citizen, but he is German by birth and his brother is Admiral Inger lately Chief Admiral of the German Grand Fleet. manager and European staff at the La Perla factory are all Germans. Ingenchl also ows 'The Orient Tobacco Manufactory.' All the profits of the Ingenohl businesses are sent to Germany via Antwerp.

concerns me and my cigar factories at Manila and Hong Kong, I beg leave to observe the following :

The first part of the foregoing statement is correct, but you ought to say "was a German" instead of is a German and to add after the firm title "The Orient Tobacco Manufactory", the place where it is

located in Hongkong.

However it was a pure invention of your kanila reporter when he stated that all the profits of my business are sent to Germany. It is not a fact nor is there any reason why I should send my profits to Germany. It is true that about 1/7th part of the profits of my factories go to Germany, a larger part
